Blog Post 1 – Instructions
You saw in the video that a big concert took place in Central Park in New York City. Several famous performers were on stage. People could not buy tickets, though. Instead, they had to do something to “earn” a seat at the event. Maybe they cleaned up a park. Maybe they wrote a letter to a politician. Maybe they volunteered at a shelter for homeless people. Maybe they helped a school to create a vegetable garden.
For your first blog assignment, imagine your favourite singer or band will be performing at the concert and you really, really want to go. Describe what you would choose to do to “earn” admission. Explain your decision. Why is this an important action to you? How would you make it happen? How much time would it take? Who would benefit from your efforts? Provide as many details as possible. Include a link to an organization that you might be able to work with to achieve your goal. One more thing—your blog must be posted by midnight tonight and must be between 150 and 200 words.

Blog Post 2 – Instructions
Your homework is to reflect on what you have learned about Fair Trade. In a well-written paragraph, answer one of the questions below. Remember to give reasons to support your answer and check your work for errors before putting it online. Your blog must be posted by midnight tonight and be between 150 and 200 words. Remember that you also need to comment on at least two other posts from your classmates before the next class.
- Imagine you are one of the people in Liaqat’s family and it is now 10 years into the future. Describe your current life in detail and explain how the benefits of Fair Trade helped you.
- We saw that purchasing Fair Trade products can be part of being an effective global citizen. In your opinion, what is another product that would benefit from Fair Trade programs? Give reasons to support your answer.

Your homework is to choose an NGO you are interested in volunteering with and describe what the NGO is about (also include a link to the NGO). Explain your choice in detail and incorporate the benefits of the organization as well as the benefits to yourself. This blog must be posted by midnight tonight and be between 150-200 words. As well, you must comment on two other blog postings.

Blog Post 4 – Instructions
Choose one person (can be yourself) who you believe is a good example of a global citizen.
Describe in detail the actions, behaviours, beliefs and activities of this person and why you think that makes them a model global citizen.
Lastly, consider how this person inspires you. How do you feel motivated by them to create change in your own community when you go home? What can you do to help achieve this new-found inspiration?
